Publication Ethics
NCMR and its editors adhere to and uphold the ethics of scientific publication as detailed in APA’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct (American Psychological Association, 2017, Section 8) and follow the code of conduct of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). We ask authors to adhere to the APA code as well as their national ethics guidelines. Important principles for authors include the following:
- Research was conducted ethically, responsibly, and legally.
- Results are reported clearly, honestly, and without fabrication, falsification, or data manipulation.
- New findings are presented in the context of previous research, which is accurately represented. Researchers are willing to make their data publicly available upon acceptance.
- Methods are described clearly and unambiguously.
- Submitted work is original, is not (self-) plagiarized.
- Authorship accurately reflects individuals' contributions.
- Funding sources and conflicts of interest are disclosed.
- Submissions should not constitute duplicate (dual) or fragmented publication, authors should disclose if the data were used in a different manuscript.
- Institutional approval and/or pre-registration are required, consent for participation or for the use of data should be provided.
COPE guidelines are pursued where misconduct is suspected or alleged. For more information, see APA code and COPE’s international standards for authors..
